Eyes On: Dead Sharp Media

Q1. Today we are sat down with Dead Sharp Media, so for those that don’t know you, who are you and what do you do?

A1. Dead sharp media was originally formed off the back of my husband’s creativity.

Originally a music producer & sound engineer he turned his focus toward videography around 7 years ago and it all developed from there.

It started as a hobby but now has developed into a husband and wife tag team that has a passion for photography and videography ESPECIALLY if it involves dogs.

Q2. Going into business can be daunting for many people, how was it for you?

A2. Going into business was a smooth transition for us, it all sort of fell into place on its own, we started gaining a reputation in the dog photography scene and it grew from there and we began to take on more and more projects until we reached the point we are now.

In terms of business, we are somewhat green but we feel our passion is what’s recognised more throughout our work as opposed to the brand itself at the moment.

Q3. What do you think sets you apart from everyone else?

A3. What sets us apart from other photography companies I feel is our ability to provide photos, videos & music as mentioned above, you tend to find most are photographers or videographers, not only this we are a husband & wife team so with 2 camera on subjects at all times we aim to never miss “that shot” we also draft in more local photographers for even bigger projects & have had nothing but great feedback from previous work about our attitude and professionalism while shooting.

Q4. I saw you at Bideford Soapbox Derby, what has been your favourite shoot to date and how does it compare to something like the Derby?

A4. Ah the Bideford soapbox was awesome, it’s was probably the most fun shoot to date, the atmosphere was great & the event organisers did a smashing job, the crowd got involved and all the cars were so good, real effort put in from local people for a great event for not only charity but the local community too,

It’s hard to say what our favourite is as we enjoy them for all different reasons,

For example, the soap box atmosphere was fun and crazy, we got to the Bideford bike show earlier this year and my husband was in his element as we both ride too but then on the other side of the coin weddings are great to be a part of someone’s special day and all the dog based shooting we do excites us, so I would have to say we look forward to every shoot we end up involved in.

Q5. I love photography but I don’t have the eye for it, what advice would you give to people who want to take better photos?

A5. Our advice would be to get out there and take photos! Anywhere you go take the camera,

We are both self-taught (although my husband has some media background)

But ours all developed from the love of our french bulldogs,

Everywhere we went we would just start taking shots, started with a cheap camera and naturally progressed, but also suck information from other photographers there are lots of little tips and tricks that people use who can share with you, but ultimately photography is art and art is subjective,

Individuals will like certain pictures for their own reasons so there is no right or wrong in photography but more importantly, have fun with it!

Q6. What would be your dream shoot to take? No limits, as crazy as you like.

A6. I mean that’s a hard one to answer, there are so many different scenarios running through my head right now, cars, motorbikes, races, weddings…but

I think we would love it to involve a 4 legged friend, somewhere with amazing scenery and nice dry weather which is something we seem to struggle with her lately haha.

Q7. If people want to see you work or reach out to you what is the best way to in contact?

A7. If anyone wants to make contact the easiest way is probably through our social media platforms Facebook or Instagram but also if you head over to www.deadsharpmedia.com you can get information & reach out to us via the website.

Thank you again for taking the time to sit down and do an Eyes On intereview with me, I look forward to seeing more of your work and hopefully I will see you at some more events soon.
